Bladerunner 2049 to receive R rating

The MPAA has recently stamped Blade Runner 2049 with an R rating, citing “violence, some sexuality, nudity, and language.”  The original Bladerunner did, itself, receive an R rating for these same reasons (sans the language), so this certainly seems like a step in the right direction. However, only time will tell if the film will turn out to be a triumphant return to form, a-la Mad Max: Fury Road, or an embarrassing mis-step (looking at you, Alien: Covenant).

The film has been directed by Sicario and Prisoners’ Denis Villeneuve, and will pick up the lore of the original cult classic. You can find the synopsis, and a trailer, below.
