Her current position was announced back in May 2018 when the institution received $1 million from anonymous donors to launch its new contemporary art collection.
The new owners wanted to contribute towards creating a dialogue about social justice through their artwork. This includes pieces that address issues like racism, sexism, homophobia and capitalism.

The most recent closure of the museum was in May, when it was announced that it would be closing for an indefinite period due to low attendance. This came as quite a shock to many people because this is not the first time the museum has closed down.
The museum opened its doors back in 2008 under the name “Museum Without Walls”. It was only open for three months before it had to close permanently due to lack of funding. Since then, it reopened as the “Ferndale Museum” with the goal of reopening as the “Museum without Walls”.
Sadly, just like the last time it re-opened, there have been no reports of the museum being fully funded and running out of money once again. Many believe that the reason the museum closes every year around the same time is so it can get more donations during the off season.
