This article will discuss why do successful companies go public. I often get comments from people who think it has something to do with how a company is being run.
This doesn’t seem right. You see, a CEO will not become a CEO unless they meet all the characteristics I listed above.
A CEO will succeed because they are talented, have great judgment, and have the proper chemistry with their team.
So why do some people get selected and others don’t? Two major reasons are involved with the selection process.
The first reason is fear. Most people don’t want to see someone they look up to succeed.
They want to see someone else’s success. They want to believe that the person they think is a good leader isn’t, in fact, the perfect CEO for their company.
They are afraid of failure, and failure scares people.
The second reason is purely commercial. Going public has more than one purpose.
If a company is doing well financially, then they can get a good valuation, which means there is a chance they could make money. On the other hand, if a company is struggling financially, going public is not the answer.
Doing so means admitting they are in trouble. That is the last thing a company wants to do.
So if going public is not your chosen route, what is?
Business. Let’s face it; every entrepreneur is fundamentally the same.
You are in it to make money and succeed. The only difference is how you go about it.
If you do this through social media, then people like you and want to follow you. If you go through a non-profit organization, then you can get a good education and make a difference in the world.
If you go the non-profit route, make sure you have major backing. The non-profit structure tends to attract lots of attention and donations, but it can cause big organizational problems when things go bad.
As for social media, make sure you always build relationships with others in your field and always be looking for opportunities to connect.
Other sources of inspiration. For many years I went around the country speaking and educating people on the skills I had gained in management positions.
I am seen as a genius in my business world, but when I talk to other people in similar fields, many don’t even know I exist. Once in a while, I will get a call or e-mail from someone I have taught before.
They tell me that something I taught got them through a difficult time in their life, and I get so proud and happy that what I teach can help.
Learning experience. When I started my business career, I felt that everyone was cutthroat and competitive.
I got used to competing all the time, but that has changed over the years. After gaining more success and experience, I have gained the wisdom that there are many ways to win, and there is no need to compete in every aspect of your life.
If you want to be successful, then realize there is a different route for everyone.
Are you ready to start your business?
While we look at the things that prevent you from going public, the most common reason is that you are not ready to take your business to the next level.
As I am writing this article, I realized that many people have been coming to the site to see what I have to say, and I do appreciate that.
However, it also means that you have been looking at a lot of unhelpful advice. One of them is to start a blog and offer a lot of services and products.
These are not going to bring in revenue. All they will bring you is time.
The best thing you can do is go in the same direction I am going in. No matter what, do not do what is called a product launch.
A product launch is really a useless thing. If you have come to the site, that is very good.
Conclusion
You are ready to launch. Do not try to give yourself an award in the process.
If I have any advice for you, it would be to be creative. Think of what you can do in the first 6 months.
If you cannot think of anything, then think of 6 reasons why it can be a good idea. Don’t say I can do it if I have a million pounds.
How will you get that, with the minimum 10,000 pounds you have? So, before you do anything, have a backup plan.
Have 6, and if you fail to sell, then maybe it’s not for you.
Remember, if you want to be successful in business, if you want to be a business leader, you must be a team player. The success of a business is in the success of everyone in the company.
