Everyone’s favorite time-wasting site has just taken a step towards greater relevancy by adding a breaking news section, which can be seen on both its homepage and its mobile apps. If you head over to Youtube right now, you can scroll down and see a carousel depicting a collection of videos from sources such as Fox News, Al Jazeera, and BBC News.
The section was first noticed by Android Police, who noted that it is possible to hide, if so desired. As it stands, it’s unclear what sources are selected, or indeed if there is any curation taking place with the videos. Hopefully, Youtube has learned a lesson from Facebook and will take steps to prevent the ever-present threat of fake news from infesting this feed.
