Recent events at high-end furniture store Z Gallerie have sparked conversations about how to treat your belongings after you die. Gone are the days when people would simply put their house up for sale and move onto the next life with all of their possessions.
These days, people are requiring that their loved ones take away not only their home, but also everything they own. Why? Because they no longer feel comfortable having these things in storage while they mourn the loss of someone close to them. They want their family to have this material as part of healing process.
In fact, some people will even ask employers if it is possible to give two weeks’ notice so that your loved one can take possession of his or her belongings during those first few weeks after a death.
This article will talk more in depth about what kind of possessions need to be given back to the person who has lost them, and why. It will also discuss some potential issues related to giving back items and tips on how to address these. If you are currently in the middle of moving or cleaning out materials from a passing, please keep reading!

Can I exchange my item for another?
As we continue to experience growth, our buying power increases as well! Since many of us have spent money in the past few months online shopping, most major retailers offer an easy way to return or exchange your purchase.
Most companies allow you to either bring your item back or send it away with no hassles. Some even give you store credit!
This is especially helpful if you’re not completely satisfied with what you bought and want to go buy something else. An example of this would be returning shoes that don’t fit properly or can’t stand up under rigorous use.
How do I exchange my item?
As mentioned before, you can always return or exchange your items within 30 days of purchase. We recommend that you keep track of your purchases by using the “My Account” section of zGaller eCommerce. There, you can check out all of your orders!
You will need to provide us with proof of purchase along with your receipt (or confirmation email). This way we can verify that this is indeed your item and not someone else’s like case for example, if you exchanged it with another person.
We ask that you try to cleanly pack your returned/exchange item so that we may easily identify it. Once again, make sure to include your receipt in the packaging.
What if I don’t want the item I’m exchanging?
Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to take advantage of this program. Some items just aren’t worth your time or someone else’s time- so you will have to choose between having that new shirt or saving money by skipping out on the exchange.
If you can’t bring yourself to part with your favorite sweatshirt then we suggest checking out Groupon first! They offer very similar services where you get points towards an merchandise certificate for giving away your junk.
Can I return my item?
Returns are always our favorite thing to do at Z Galleria! We ask that you try your best to sell your items back through our website or app before returning them.
By selling your item through us, we’re able to get better quality data than if you were trying to list it yourself with another online shopping site. Data is important to us because it helps determine how much value your jewelry has and what kind of market it finds itself in.
We want to make sure you’re happy with your purchases so we’ve made returns easy! You can bring your merchandise straight from the store within 30 days of receiving it for a full refund.
All returned goods must be unopened and in new condition and include all original materials and accessories.
How long does the exchange take?
Since the pandemic hit, there have been many changes for most people due to worries about getting sick or passing along COVID-19. Many stores are limiting how much face-to-face contact they allow, which is why it can be hard to visit a store or showroom.
That’s where online shopping comes in handy! Most major department stores and furniture sellers offer an online buying service where you can order almost anything (except large items like sofas and beds) without having to touch other people or merchandise.
Many of these sites also offer free shipping, making it more affordable to buy new things as well!
Z Gallerie has an exclusive Online Buying Service that gives you up to $200 off your purchase ($500 max per person)! This special discount applies automatically at checkout, and can be used towards any item on their site — including big purchases like sofas and bed frames.
This service only works if you use credit card checkouts, however.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, you cannot! As mentioned before, buying anything from Z Galleries is an agreement to make purchases. If for some reason you are no longer satisfied with your item, you must return it within 30 days of purchase.
Refunds will be given in form of store credit that can then be spent online or at one of our many location-based stores.
When can I exchange my item?
A seller will not be able to offer their merchandise as sale until they have either received or denied an exchange at least 24 hours. This includes both online and in-store sellers!
Once you find a potential match, you will need to make sure that you are both comfortable with each other before agreeing to send your item off.
If there is any kind of controversy such as if you do not receive it within this time frame, then you should probably go ahead and decline the trade since the seller would obviously prefer to keep the item rather than risk having no money returned.
This is especially true if the seller does not seem quite trustworthy.
Can I get a refund?
Unfortunately, you cannot! As mentioned before, buying anything from the zGalleria website or mobile app means that you have agreed to their terms. These are extremely stringent terms which make it very hard to receive a refund unless you are doing something wrong.
The main things that prevent people from getting refunds are: You owning an item either as a collector’s piece or for business use. In both of these cases, you will be denied your refund.
This is because zGold members who purchase jewelry do not own it- they are renting it. Because they do not own it, they can never return it and thus, there is no way to get your money back.
For those who buy for business purposes, most companies will accept returns within 90 days of receiving the goods. For individuals, this time frame drops down to 30 days. This depends on where you live too, some locations have different policies.
